Boston Festival of Films from Iran to screen lineup of films

A series of Iranian films has been scheduled to screen at the Boston Festival of Films from Iran in the US state of Massachusetts.

Select films to be screened at the event include titles such as ‘Simulation’, ‘Breath’, ‘Blockage’, ‘Disappearance’ and ‘Negar’.

Late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami’s final film ‘24 Frames’ will also be screened at the festival.

‘24 Frames’ is a series of 24 four-and-a-half-minute segments, most of them depicting animals in nature, each one unfolding inside a single static frame.

Abbas Kiarostami, one of the world’s greatest filmmakers, died in 2016.

“‘Simulation’ (directed by Abed Abest) is an experience that demands your complete audio sensory attention so you can structure the visuals on your imagination," a review said about the film.

‘Breath’ has a soft screenplay of antiwar nature. It depicts the story of four kids, Bahar, Nader, Kamal and Maryam who are growing up in the early 80s amid Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

Directed by Mohsen Qaraei, ‘Blockage’ chronicles a devastating chaos that occurs to a ferocious, contemptible man who works as a street vendor control officer.

‘Disappearance’, directed by Ali Asgari, tells the story of two young lovers who run from hospital to hospital, and are confronted with numerous obstacles.

Rambod Javan’s ‘Negar’ tells the story of a girl whose economically-struggling father dies due to excessive pressure in life. Fishy circumstances surrounding the case lead a historian to review the last days of the man's life in order to understand the origin of his story.

The Boston Festival of Films from Iran will run from January 4-17 in the capital city of Massachusetts.
